She’s running for newly created State Senate District 59, which covers neighborhoods in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. On June 28, she defeated the 13-term, fossil-fuel-friendly incumbent Kevin Cahill in the Democratic primary for Assembly District 103. Sarahana organized against Danskammer fracked gas plant and triumphed.
